| This has been an AMAZING Birthday week for me. Thanks to a bunch of great friends who went out of their way to spend time with me this week. I had dinner at Uno's (thanks KD and Chellene) on Wednesday (day of bday) and I was so happy that many of you were able to come out and celebrate. Friday night, I got to chill with more friends at Blue Martini (courtesy of C.J. getting 12 of us in there for free then buying us all drinks.. wow) and we danced the night away. Saturday I practiced with KD for Sunday's service and got to chill with Roberto. (thank you for the generous presents to you and your fam). Then, as planned by Chellene, I went home to change for our dinner reservations... except there was no dinner reservation... as I got home and opened the door.. a roaring scream of "SUPRISE!!!!!!!!!!" scared the crap out of me ( I was shaking for a long time) as I saw a big group of friends and family huddled together, in superhero costumes, blowing horns and making noise as they sing Happy Birthday while I stare in disbelief and pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. After a long while I was able to breathe and accept the fact that I had amazing people around me that just made my 24th bday the BEST birthday that I have ever had. Chellene and Manuel succesfully pulled off a comic themed suprise party with the help of KD and Roberto by distracting me throughout that day!! I have to say.. I feel so unworthy of all these amazing things that has happened this week. I praise God for humbling me, and by filling me with happiness. I am so Thankful to all of you who were there to show LOVE. I thanks all of you who thought about me but could not make it. I LOVE ALL OF YOU. Thank you Manuel, for all you have done.. you have gone above and beyond any best friend would do. A very special and eternal thank you to Chellene.. my everything... you have made this the best bday experience, best life experience, and you have shown me that your love grows more and more everyday. I don't mean to sound cliche.. but I CAN'T EVER IMAGINE a life without you by my side as my LIFE PARTER.. here on Earth and also in Eternity. Thank you. Thank you GOD for blessing me, an unworthy sinner, with such a supporting and loving fiance, friends and family. I LIVE to WORSHIP YOU.
THANK YOU ALL!!!!! | | |
| Did anyone miss the NBA Dunk Contest this weekend?! If you did .. you missed an amazing show. Nate Robinson from the Knicks came out on top.. and guess what.. he is 5'8"!!!! Okay, for all you NBA fans, you know that Spud Webb won the dunk contest back in 86 with the height of 5'7". That was beyond amazing... He was my hero! I didn't think I'd see such a little guy fly like he did.. but this weekend I was proven wrong. Nate Robinson pulled off some amazing, high flying jams. My favorite (and a million other people's) was when Nate got the the legendary Spud Webb to stand between him and the hoop and throw him up an alley-oop while flying above him for a Jordan-eske slam! Here are shots of him in the middle of this gorgeous move.

Just check out how much air is under him.. he's got about 4.5 feet of vertical if not more!!
Man, I just love a good dunk. And this one is amazing.
| I decided to doodle a bit this past couple of days and I came up with some cool stuff. I'm pretty hyped about the new comic movies that are coming out this summer.. X-Men 3 and Superman Returns. I decided to draw something from each movie. This first drawing is of Juggernaut form X3. This is what I would make his costume look like if I were the designer.. but I'm sure they'll go with something more CRAPPY. Anyways, heres the lines followed by the colors.

Looks like he busted through a wall or somethin.. Well, I really hope his helmet is somewhat cool in the movie. We'll see. Now for my next piece. This is very special to me.. I, like millions of other guys, grew up wishing to be Superman. I am pretty excited about the new movie. This sketch was inspired by the ending of the movie teaser when Superman was floating above the Earth waiting to hear where he is most needed, then he opens his eyes and speeds through the athmosphere. This was all done by memory.. no reference pics or anything... thats why it doesn't look like the guy who is playing the new Superman.

This is a small version of my finished product. It takes away A LOT of details.. it sucks but I can't post my real file here, it's gynormous. These were all painted with a mouse on Photoshop. This one took a LOOOOONG time.
I hope you all enjoyed looking at my art. Take care and God Bless.
| Okay... check this... I was at Barnes & Noble reading a gaming magazine when I ran into Hardcore Gamer Magazine and it had a column for video game cos-play (theme costumes). If you remember.. I posted pics of some friends and I in Mortal Kombat costumes that we (Manuel, Eduardo, Robby and I) created for Halloween here on xanga.... and I decided to submit it to the magazine because I'm a nerd... and they decided to print it... on a full page!!! Here I am with the magazine..

Here's the page of the magazine featuring our MK cosplay....

a better look at the page....

For the actuall pics that I submitted, scroll down to my MK entry or go to my myspace.(http://www.myspace.com/jpzilla) . Chellene get's the photographer credit. Oh, It's actually Robby Wade that made the Kano costume.. not Bobby...
And look! They even posted a couple of my Street Fighter drawings!

This is the first time that I had stuff printed in a national magazine. It's really not a big deal since I didn't get paid for it or anything, but I still think that it's a great blessing.
BUY THE MAG AT BARNES & NOBLE!!! IT'S ONLY 5 BUCKS!!!!!!
Thanks for stopping by. Take care and God Bless.
